IPL 2021: All-rounder Axar Patel tests positive for Covid-19

Delhi Capitals had earlier suffered a severe setback as the team’s regular captain Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of the entire IPL due to injury. The team from Delhi was not even aware that now Axar Patel has been found positive for Corona.

Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals have suffered a major setback before the start of the tournament. Team all-rounder Axar Patel found covid -19 positive. Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the IPL due to injury.

ANI quoted Delhi Capitals sources as saying, “Unfortunately, the Axar Patel have been found to be positive.” He is currently in isolation and following all the protocols. Axar Patel is the second player to be infected with Corona after Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana. However, on Thursday, Rana’s corona report came back negative. Rana was found positive on 22 March.

Pant will replace Shreyas Iyer as captain
Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder during fielding during the first ODI of the home series against England. Shreyas’s injured shoulder surgery will be done on 8 April. Delhi Capitals have replaced Rishabh Pant as their captain in place of Shreyas.

The 8 grounds staff of Wankhede Stadium are to be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in 10 matches of IPL infected with Corona . It is reported that 8 grounds staff of Wankhede have been found infected with Corona. Currently, most cases of corona are coming from Mumbai and Maharashtra. 

The way players and others are getting infected before the start of the tournament has also raised the concern of the BCCI.

In the first match, the defending champions Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Delhi Capitals will start their campaign against Chennai Super Kings (Delhi Capitals vs Chenna Super Kings) on 10 April.

Delhi will play first match on April 10, 2021

Delhi Capitals have to play their first match in IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings on 10 April. The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Now Axar Patel is not scheduled to play in this match. However, now in the next two days, once again their corona test will be done.
